    Early Inland Questions

    All,
I got this nice early carbine back during the T-giving holidays. It just "looks right". All Inland except firing pin (QH-L) and extractor (W). Bbl date of 8/43. SG mfg receiver.
    Two main questions:
    1. Is this nice original I cut stock too early for the s/n?? IO but no flaming bomb in the stock cut.

    2. The leaf on the flipper is marked .u.. Unmarked on the base. If I'm reading Ruth correctly, Underwood shipped Inland some flip leafs early in 43. Is there some possiblity this is the original rear sight? I have been unable to detect any stake marks to denote later adj. installation.

Ronnie, nice early Inland. I might be wrong, we'll let others weigh in but I think the flaming bomb, P in the slingwell was earlier.
Is the barrel/receiver blued or parked? How about a pic. of the barrel band? Is the front sight marked?
I have Inland 262,xxx dated 3/43 and am planning on a resto. Thanks.....Frank

    Thanks for your input Frank....

No marks on the front sight....

Bbl looks to be blue. Kinda hard to tell.

Below is photo of slingwell and bbl band

Frankly (no pun intended, Sir!) I was a little suspicious of the bbl band, but on close examination, cannot detect any removal of front sight.

    The band is unmarked

Thanks Brian... I may also have found some of my answers in my own collection. I have an "SI" receiver gun # 708xxx which I believe to be substancially correct, which has oval and not I cut stock.
Do you have any opinion on the flip sight??

Thanks in advance for your help...

Looks a lot like the one I got this summer, Mine was an old DCM one but did have the adjustable rear sight. Beautiful!
