Off the top of my head--they were all 7mm(?) Mauser rifles. Around 1952/53 they were all rebarreled into .30-'06 caliber. They are still around at the bigger gunshows, but almost always found in .30-'06.

after a good soaking I got the stock off.the barrel #s match the receiver.were the barrels changed or rechambered?did they mark it someplace to note caliber change?other than the stock being well used, the rifle itself seems to be in rather good shape, good rifleing, much of original finish remains. on a side note ,the hand guard is held at the rear with a clip similar to a #1 mk 3.and a hole in the front of thetrigger guard to put a sling swivel on. just common sence tells me if were still 7mm?,then a 30-06 would not want to chamber .i did some searching and found a little info.it could be a model 30 or a model 50,i cant find good photos or descriptions of either.the one crest I could find was different than the one I have[mine seems to be more ornate, detailed]. any help from the masses would be appreciated. thanks calf-steve for your help.

A 30-06 will not chamber in a 7mm. A 7mm bullet would float in a 30 caliber barrel. Not to say it couldn't be something else but you can eliminate one or the other pretty easily.
