    Long Branch rear sight

Can anyone tell me how common the Lb marked mk1 "singer" type sights are?
I appreciate there are probably a few attached to rifles out there but are they a common part to find loose?

They are not that common from what I have observed over the years. They do pop up on E-bay now and then and usually draw over $100.00 US when they do.

Thanks for the reply . I've located a pair of Lb stamped sights for $45. I guess I should take them then!

My No1Mk3* has Indian rear sights for 7.62 - I talked to the gent who has the shop in SC that specializes in Commonwealth weapons (Brian) and he will sell me correct rear sights. Any idea how to remove them? I have heard that the rear sights are either pinned or brazed to the barrel.

Can you do it yourself or do I end up taking the rifle back to the shop where I bought it to have the gunsmith do it........

I just use a small C-clamp with some leather padding to take the spring pressure off the sight leaf, then remove the retaining pin, washer and drive out the axis pin with a drift. If it's got the late axis pin without the washer and retaining pin, just drive it out from left to right. The key to making it easy and to align the new sight leaf is to take the pressure off the leaf by depressing the spring with a padded C-clamp.

Brian - thanks! I ended up being on travel for a few weeks since we last chatted and I'm just now getting back to my Enfield.
