SMLE MkI* - Lewis Maynard Collection
Featured on this page is a London Small Arms (LSA) SMLE MkI* rifle, built in 1907. This particular rifle migrated to Australia as the stampings show.
Left hand side of butt marked Q^GP 1908: Queensland (Australia) Government, Police issued 1908.
Right hand side of butt marked with the LSA roundel and SMLE I*. Also note the "sold out of service" arrows.
This image shows the magazine cut-off and LSA markings on the buttsocket. Being a MkI*, note the absence of the charger bridge.
