Sifting through piles of accumulated 'gun stuff', I came across this little gem, but with no identifying marks or stamps. Looks like a brass oiler bottle, pull-through bore cleaner, spare firing pin,...
Thanks!
Any recommendations how to go about smoothing that finish?
Thanks.
I figured the finish was too nice to be original. But I think it sure makes for an agreeable looking piece.
Kind of like a dark, charcoal-grey parkerizing.
Followed me home last week. Guess I'll have to keep it?
Just acquired it two days ago, and now very anxious to expend some 9mm ammo.
I have no idea if that finish is original or later update....
I have too much 8mm milsurp ammo (did I really say that?!? :yikes: ), and thinking of selling this Romanian 340-round spam can. Does anyone know, or is there a way of telling from the can label, if...
Anyone know the correct size Berdan primer for Swiss GP-11 cases? To choose from, I have these available:https://www.milsurps.com/images/imported/2019/09/20190913_Berdan_threedifferent_zpsimrqsc-1.jpg
I gave up all hope of getting one of the CMP guns, after I received my random number of nearly 19,000. Then I found this one on Empire Arms for a price very competitive with CMP, rolled the dice, and...
I know an FN-49 can do better, so now I want to try this with my Venezuelan 7mm, and do both slow-fire and rapid-fire.
:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:...
Any luck?
Happy to help, but need more info, please. For example, model, year (approximate), maker, condition, source, etc.
Standing by...
Welcome, Merle!
Yes, that's a Venezuelan FN-49.
The tiny little white tag above the magazine says 7mm, so I don't confuse it with my 8mm Egyptian.
:yikes:

It's that time of year, again. Time to initiate another vintage military rifle...
The only 'time' investment is the initial setting up of the RCBS decapper, finding the best depth and angle for the pin. Once that is tweaked, just pop away.
Using the RCBS Berdan decapper...

I think that's too many digits for either SSAN or service number.
And amazingly creative with that serial number!
Because I have a 1918 Eddystone, a friend of mine showed me his MODEL OF 1917, and asked me to explain the receiver. I didn't know what to say.
First time I ever saw anything like this.
...
Believe me, these 4th graders are not going to be quite that critical.
 ;)
Good to know. Sounds like it will add some nice drama, too.
 :p
I use .303 blank ammo when giving living history demonstrations, and recently ordered 100 rounds. The ammo arrived and the boxes are labeled "Black Powder". Am I crazy to question if this is okay to...
I understand (I think!) that Sierra MKs are less than ideal (don't work?) for reloading GP-11 for the K31, but are OK reloading GP-11 for the 1911, right?
If that is correct, what are some...
Yep. I think the barrel, recoil spring, barrel bushing, and magazine are the only common parts.
Managed a few photos in between thunderstorms:

Just today received my one and only Ballester-Molina, found on gunbroker.com, with all matching s/n, including the original magazine! Serial number 13xxx indicates a probable year of build of either...
