As my Grandfather said to me .Don't be a butcher when the correct tools are handy. My Father didn't say anything i just got walloped if i didn't take noticed of the cough before hand.
The cramp is...

That sight is adjustable with the proper tool.
Check the length for a SLR sling.
But not in green for ww1.
Me thinks a Kiwi Mk1* should not wear a green post WW2 sling any way.
The rifle is beyond a FTR. Having said that it is in its current shape more than passable truck rifle which could be enhanced with a scope using a side mount so the open sights could still be used.
Thankyou for the effort. Your work is very informative.
Muff

XL42E1
From my research is this not a forerunner /experimental before the L42A1 was sealed.
This is your territory not mine.

The Lithgow 8 rifle chest came with 8 bayonets
Do you have the two top pieces to hold the rifles in place.
I have the Aussie chest which holds 8 rifles and bayonets.
Santa Fe did indeed make some fakes / clones mostly with Indian rifles. The Aussie No6 wont take a 1907 bayonet like the No5.
98 made serial XP101 to XP198. Half with rubber Butt plate.
The 1/1 action is different to mount the rear sight. It is not just fitted to..
I have only seen 45 dated actions used. Even my Mk1 lightly linished action is a 45. The Mk111* stamp line is all gone...
New actions no linishing done. Will go and look again be back shortly.
I have a No6 Mk1/1 that has been partly linished without a PAA number on the bolt. These actions are not No1 Mk3 actions. The...
The XP serial numbers are original to the action in my opinion. All mine are XP then the three numbers. I S also mentions another variant numbered XP1 to XP8. I don't have one of them.
