To be honest, when it comes to no-smith mounts for the P14/M1917, there's not much to choose between the various offerings available.
I really prefer the Bad Ace offering for the no4/5 though.
Exactly my thoughts.
I wonder what he's done with the dies?
Hi Mick, I hear Malcolm has retired, so no more BES Bullets.
The Norma 130gr bullet is one of the best hunting bullets I've tried in my .303 stalking rifle. The only bullet I like even nearly as much is the Hornady 174gr RNSP.
My stash of the 130's is, sadly...
Also available with a rifle barrel in .32-40.

The fore-end with the flecks looks like beech.
I'd say that part of his collar is covering the rearsight guard, and it's a completely standard M1917.
With a serial number that early, I suspect the rifle will be a Mk1, so the wrong rifle to build a No3 Mk1* replica.
As a Mk1, i'd leave it alone. They are less common than Mk1* rifles.
Hi Roger. The last lot of Colron dye I looked at in Homebase was water based. It would appear that the old spirit based stuff is now classed as a naughty substance.
I still have a can each of the...
These rifles from Navy Arms seem to be in too good condition to have been handed in by resistance fighters.
I've seen some of the rifles haned in by various militias and armed groups after the...
Would they not have just been two slings clipped together?
The company of Lincoln Jeffries now makes air rifle pellets under the "Marksman" brand.
Bear in mind that, other than seeing some use for sniping, the P14 was never front line issue anyway. I'm fairly sure that by the time they got issued to the Home Guard, no one was too bothered...
The * modification was incorporated at the manufacturing stage, not during Weedon overhaul.
That looks just plain wrong.
The German e-bay site can be a good source for correct looking vintage scopes. They're not as cheap as they used to be though, and you do need a windage adjustable rear...
Funnily enough, the year before this, a friend of my dad's had been made redundant and was selling stuff hand over fist to tide him over 'til he could find another job, and he asked my dad if I'd be...
In the same magazine W. Parr (Firearms) International is advertising "Military Rifles Bored to .410". Several flavours of Mauser from £75-£80, SMLE & No4 for £90 and £85, and just for good measure, a...
Memories of times when we enjoyed a tad more freedom in this Sceptred Isle.

Has the one you're buying been rebuilt, or is it original?
The one you have is a 're-build; so, with the greatest of respect is a well executed Bubba.
Thanks to all for the kind comments and good wishes.
It's back to work for me from Monday. Starting off with a couple of weeks "light duties", and we'll see how it goes from there.
Well, mortality has just given me a kick up the arse. Had a heart attack 2 days ago; which I obviously survived, but it's driven home the fact that I've got a lot of stuff that the wife doesn't have...
Hi all.
A friend of mine who's a gunsmith recently took in a No4 and he's asked me to identify a couple of stamps on the receiver wall.
The first is the letters FTRM, but the letters are arranged...
I think Ross Rifle Restorations has/had new, Candian made stocks for the P14. Won't be cheap, but, if they still have them, one would look good on a $10 rifle.
(just had a look on their site. C$350...
