Pedant alert.
The body hinge pin on the British L1A1 is in backwards.
Taking a quick glance at the pictures I would say museum quality is somewhat of an exaggeration.
The wear (shiny exposed metal) on the carrying handle and the various axis pins on the body do not...
Clearly to wound has more benefit in committing assisting troops
Based on the assumption that any potential enemy gives a stuff about their wounded, or even their troops in general. Korea, and...
Bearing in mind the Mk V was never officially issued (various un verified accounts that some may have been pressed into service post Dunkirk) as a service rifle probably unlikely to have unit...
UK only. (Export considered but all expenses and paperwork responsibility of buyer)
Thinning out my collection. Very rare excellent condition Lee Enfield MkV, not a No 5, 1924 model, all matching...
Is the R as in a capital R or is it in a stylised form?
Don’t know if relevant to the L1A1 but a singular letter R around the Knox on one of a Lee Enfields would indicate that rust had been found....
Uk only.
Looking for Lee Enfield Smle MkV, not the No5.
Preferably to original spec but variations of considered.
Preferably 1922 & 1923 models.
Thank you
Also
Rear sling swivel missing.
From what I can make out in the photo the front sight grub screw could be missing.
Front sight looks suspiciously high, bent barrel?
Looks like the gas cylinder is...
Troubling thing is somebody will buy it, fools and their money.
For those of you feeling a little flush this festive season.

Is this the same rifle as discussed in a previous post?
If so back up for sale.
One of the pictures, showing full length R/H side, on post 57 of original post, looks remarkably similar to one...
Well spotted, originally looked on phone, small screen etc, looking on a bigger screen it does appear as if something black is behind the screw head, whether the tie plate is complete or not? Be...
From what I can make out from the photograph it does indeed appear to be a Mk1 fore end but with the tie plate omitted and a screw inserted. Had this been done in service the tie plate hole in the...
If the dealer has indeed done what appears to have been done then they are just compounding an outright criminal fraud.
If you want a chuckle read some of the descriptions of some of the goods...
Sharp practices is perhaps a bit of an understatement.
These retailers trade on their expertise and reputation, so they are either exposing their lack of knowledge and professionalism or their...
Lovely to see a rifle with all matching wood, however the reality of service life is any beyond repair wood would have been replaced with whatever was available, armourers did not consider collectors...
'The problem is the EMER is a living document and as things were added or corrected the older versions were removed and destroyed'.
I think this will be your biggest problem. From memory the L1A1...
Mk V surely?
L of C SS A1635 - A1690, 31st May 1926. Skennerton P191.
A Beaut anyway.
Been exercising my very grey matter on this, IIRC the bolt, No 5, and the spacer, No 8, as on the drawings posted by nzl1a1collector  were the same as per any other butt fitment it was the...
By screw I assume you mean the buttstock bolt, sometimes referred to as screw, return spring tube.
If this is the case A.M.S. Militaría have one on their website for 5 Euros. Reference AMSO1839....
Do you mean the Buttstock bolt? i.e the bolt that screws into the return spring tube.
Before fitting a small butt plate to an arctic butt I would consider eye relief, the rear of the backlight...
Thank you for posting link. Learn something new every day. I would guess that most rebuilds would have been done at base workshop in BAOR or at the Workshops in Warminster, sorry can’t remember names...
Interesting.
In my time as an armourer I don't recall ever seeing 'FTR' on an L1A1, not to say that it didn't happen.
We certainly saw a high turnover of rifles, the replacements being base...
Before splashing out on a Tritium foresight consider this - Tritium is a radioactive element that has a half life of about 12 years. The foresight would of have been produced at least 50 years ago,...
Hi Skiprat
Thank you for spotting the senior citizens moment, yes of course I meant an extractor removal tool, doh.
Thank you for the other info. The C scanner is an armourers made tool, we made...
