Your sales reference has me thinking if it is worth the effort. I may just buy another one and convert this one into a knife. The challenge would be interesting. Thanks for the information.

Thats the queston I feel some do disregard at times, be it a bayonet, rifle, medal etc, the Jungle carbine I did was worth it as these demand a high premium, so was cost efective in the end.

But the challenge is there and a bit of practice for the next one.

From the prices I had been seeing for this type bayonet, it would have been worthwhile for me to do it. I've been watching them sell in the $60-$70 range for about a month. Granted not the value of a Jungle Carbine bayonet but still for the price I paid for it, a bargain.

But I also like the heft and feel of this particular bayonet. If I can get another one for $38, turning this one into a knife I could carry is an attractive alternative. I would still have some practice in removing and filling the catch an release buttons/parts and filling in the notch for the bayonet lug. I'm envisioning a nice leather scabbard which I would also have to make. Be great for hiking, camping, hunting, etc.

But like you suggest, it also would be practice for rebuilding a more valuable bubba'd bayonet.

    Decisions, decisions
