It is not at all unusual to have to fit a M95 to the rifle, short rifle or carbine you want to use it on. Why that is so I have no idea but a small amount of work is often necessary and, if done carefully and in the same manner that a unit armorer would have done it, will have no affect on the historical value or collectability of the bayonet.
The above fact being stated, assure yourself that it is indeed a M95 bayonet and then do the work or sell the bayonet to a collector. Why the A-H M95 bayonet is like this I have no idea but I have had to fit bayonets to several guns over the years, easily done.
