    If they were originally made for the government, then it would make sense to make them M2 housings so they could be used in Viet Nam for rebuilding and such with the M2 being a hot item at that time.

    That would make sense, but I am not sure we will ever know for sure if this was the case. I contacted Rimer Castings last year in hopes of getting information on their company's involvement in manufacturing the carbine trigger housings, unfortunately the company has changed ownership a few times over the years and the CEO had no knowledge of what I was talking about. I will say that the R marked trigger housing that I own was on a import marked S'G' carbine that I picked up at a gun show last year.
