Here in Canadaicon the carbine is limited to 5 rds...so 25 mags on you. The pistol mags can at least hold 10.

Yep, bought a bunch of it for about that price or a bit less, along with the Glock mags. When I bought my Mini-30, the Russianicon ammo was about 6-7 cents. - Bob

Yep, its just an old habit to say PC9 (which looked like a 9mm 10-22). Trips off the tongue easier than Ruger PC Carbine! I have about 2,000 to 3,000 rounds of assorted 9mm, since I already have a bunch of 9mm pistols. Most of it was bought 2 years ago or more when it was $12 a box of 50. The Federal 9BPLE +P+ 115s move out at more than 1615 fps and give about 670 ft lbs ME from the Ruger Carbine. VERY snappy! I have about 300 rounds of it for my Glock 19. It gets about 1400 fps from the 9BPLE.

I have to say, I am smitten with the Mini-30. If a Mini-14 is an M1icon Carbine with a "stiffy" a Mini-30 is an M1 Carbine on a double dose of Viagra! I get 2550 fps from a 125 grain Hornady OTM using H4198!

Had a friend I use to hear from often up there in Canada, but he has sort of fell into a void. Last time I heard from him y’all were undergoing new restrictions and I wondered even if the carbine would be outlawed. Y’all had to have a 20-inch barrel at that time as I recall.

What are you allowed up there now….carbine-wise?

We had what I assumed was a Canadianicon legal M-1 carbine come through the shop. It has 2" of free-bore barrel added (welded) to make it over 20"

On another note, I replaced the Mini-30 factory firing pin with one with a .045" protrusion from Firingpins.com to have 100% ignition on Russianicon steel cased ammo. The primers are inset a tad to prevent slam-fire on full auto. Mine gobbles up anything! It is a 584 series, so it has the heavier barrel and front post and wing front sight and ghost ring rear sight. Sight picture is identical to M1 Carbine, M16, M14icon, M1 Garand. Much better than the old mile high front ramp and folding leaf rear the PRE-2006 Mini-30s used to have. Takes Ruger receiver mounted scope rings like the Ranch rifle, too.

Besides the M1 Carbine and Mini-14 and 30, I have AR-15s, and have had AKs. I have to say, my first choice to grab as a WTSHTF defensive carbine would be either the Mini-14 or Mini-30. I just shoot them really well....

Mine was made in '02 and the scope rings were included. Do the new 584's still come with them? Thanks! - Bob

Carbines with issue equipment are restricted, registered. 19" barrels are not. All mags have to be blocked to five.

The guns that had extensions added instead of a factory made barrel were deemed an illegal conversion by RCMP.

Must depend on who’s holding the ruler. The carbines I see for Canadaicon sales list 18.5 inch barrels.

Considered issue. The half inch is probably measured back to the rear of the barrel ring. Wrong way to measure but I no longer care about how they do it.
