Perhaps Tiriaq but in my opinion doesn't matter the value of a gun unless its useful. So even if I were to buy a excellent condition Mauser thats a 2,000$ rifle I'd modify it till it suited my needs.

Agree, from a purely finacial perspective drilling and tapping an original un-refurbished k98k would be a very poor investment choise.

On a side note. My rings are on their way, and here comes the next big issue. How to get the rings onto the scope. If anyone knows competent scope mechanics or freelance people who would know how to do this correctly, please PM me

I seem to remember a guy out Alberta way, who does scope repairs.

I'll have to see if I can find the information I had on him........

That would be great. Im afraid of doing it myself, but you need extensive scope disasembly to get the rings on, followed by silver soldering, so I best leave this to someone knowlegable.
