Thumbs up A perfect Canada Day.

I'm working midnight shifts right now so I headed out to the range this afternoon, after I woke up.

Hooked my quad up to the club's mower and mowed the whole place. I'm running the club's Milsurp/Tac Rifle shoot next weekend so I needed to figure out where the rifles I'm entering where shooting. Put up some Fig. 11's and shot my AR and SKS.

Then I got to work on sighting in my Ranger issue No4. If you read the other thread you'll remember how much trouble I was having with mis-aligned CMk3 and MkI rear sights. I decide to just sight in with the battle sight and forget about the peep. Ended up trying 3 front sights before I ended up with a +.090" installed.

And the best part? Putting 75 rounds of the Queen's .303 Britishicon down range out of a '49 Long Branch, so it was like getting a tax rebate too.

Yup, the "flip" battle sight was calibrated for 300 yards with the bayonet fixed and 400 yards with the bayonet unfixed......

I guess you didn't want to go on the ranhe with a bayonet on it all the time?

    Regards,
    Badger

Never heard that tidbit before and can't recall reading it in the zeroing chapter from Shoot to Live. If that were true, wouldn't it also hold true for the peep, thereby making a mockery of the sight graduations?

I've got some ammo left over, I'll try it out with a spike mounted and let you know.

You know, if they issued Rangers bayonets, we'd just use them for roasting marshmallows.

Maybe the sight problem was the huge pile of No.4 sights I supplied the Rangers in your area some years ago :-)##
    Have a good one.......

LOL, I don't think so. I believe the CMk3 was the original sight on the rifle and the ratty MkI replacement looked like it had been in a compost heap for 60 years.
