Yup, the "flip" battle sight was calibrated for 300 yards with the bayonet fixed and 400 yards with the bayonet unfixed......
I guess you didn't want to go on the ranhe with a bayonet on it all the time?

Maybe the sight problem was the huge pile of No.4 sights I supplied the Rangers in your area some years ago :-)##

LOL, I don't think so. I believe the CMk3 was the original sight on the rifle and the ratty MkI replacement looked like it had been in a compost heap for 60 years.
