    Inland HI Stock Marking?

I bought a refinished stock a while back from a known respected refinisher, and was told it was an Inland. At the time I didn't really care, as I just needed a stock for a shooter. The best I can tell with my "old eys" is there "may be" an HI marked where I have crudely circled in the photo. I have to look at it from different angles, kind a like those paintings of nothing, that when you focus just right you see the picture Anyone want to offer up their opinion? Thanks, Larry.

My guess would be Winchester but I'll have to see a picture a little back some and a picture of the recoil plate bolt nut. Behind the trigger housing.

Bubba7, look below what "appears" to be a W. I see 2 legs of the H and almost the complete I to the right of it.

    G,

Can you shoot a pic of it turned 90 degrees counter clockwise and out about 4 more inches?

the way the pic is taken, the angle of the front edge of the sling cut looks like a WRA or a M-U stock.

G, I don't see it either. What is a bunch of old guys doing looking at a tiny thing like that anyway?????

That area reminds me of a Trimble stock that I have that the Germanicon's got hold of. They chiseled most of the "TRIMBLE" off before they stamped the last 5 of the serial in the slot. You have to hold the stock "just" right (plus whistle a tune) to make mine out - but its clearly there when you have the light hitting it.

Have you tried a strong flashlight at different angles, like perpendicular to the area?

Tired, I clearly see the HI sideways in the slot when I get the light right (first pic). It's that chisel mark over it that ruins it, but I believe it's there. Just looking for confirmation that I'm not imagining things. if I were to do that, this stock would magically turn into a Q-RMC Type II that I really need for my QHMC carbine

I'm thinking like Bubba at the moment. Have seen many slingwell markings damaged by the fittings on various slings. Mike.Attachment 20144
