Type 99 Firing Pin Broken or Disabled?

    hey guys,

i have a Type 99 Long Rifle and i only today took the bolt apart (never had the ammo, never felt the need to do it). anyway, i discovered that the firing pin tip appears to have been neatly ground off. it's not a break, it's a smooth grinding that removed it.

i had heard somewhere that when some rifles were brought back the GI or sailor was told to disable it somehow. could this be a reason for it or do i have to punch a hole in the wall?

here are a couple pics. i put it by one of my 98ks firing pins to show how much is missing.

like i said, it's clearly not broken but ground away or something

    thanks

Not a hard fix, if you want to shoot it, and the firing pin matches the rifle's assembly number. (Long T99s have most of their parts matched to a number on the underside of the barrel from what I've seen.) If it's not matching, then just grab a regular old T99 firing pin.

As for WHY it's that way,..... ummm???

yeah, it's all matching. i was informed by a member on calguns that grinding down firing pins on bring backs was a common thing to do by the vets to keep adventurous kids from doing any harm with them.

i think i'll leave it as is in a shadow box and just look at it.

    thanks!

    Ground Firing Pin

I bought a Jinsen SLD. When I got it I found the matching to the bolt, but not the rifle had the tip was ground off. The bolt was late Jinsen, but the numbers didn't match. At first I didn't think it was to bad of a idea. Since when the bolt was cocked and if you turned the safety on. But didn't fire it, if you released the safety. The firing pin dropped. Not good with a live round in the chamber.
