Sten gun Mk2 cocking handle

I am looking for sizes and dimensions or Tec drawing for the correct Mk2 Sten gun cocking handle, the top hat type that has knurling on the top half, can anyone help.

The dimensions are in Peter's book "The Sten Machine Carbine". I had a friend make me one.

There were about 5 different types all in, in UK service but about 3 different types applicable to the Mk2 gun if my memory is correct. As Gary says, they're all described and illustrated in the book.

As you are in the UK there is a cocking handle for a sten on the gunstar site (subsection machine guns) £7.50

cocking handles (from the left) 1,2, then 7 to the end are simply same meat different gravy 'safety related'/ latest type that can be locked in the forward position while 3,4 and 5 are early and the 6,7 type were designed with that little ring to prevent you slicing your fore-finger or side of the hand on the sharp, punched-out edge of the cocking handle slot.

If I was you topmine I'd get your pal to make 10 from a standard* size bar of mild steel, keep yours and a spare and sell the rest on!

Quite a variation between the later type of cocking handle, sligh differences.
I intend to make couple for myself and spares to sell, when I can find some suitable bar. About to order your Sten book in the next couple of days, looking forward to a good read.

Slight differences in the outer ends because manufacturers were always permitted to make best use of their facilities or tooling or materials at hand - with approvel of course. But notice that the inner ends of the shafts that allowed the breech block to lock forwards are identical. That was a Class A 'safety related' modification
