Budapest M95 carbine stock 'disc'.

Just got this (presumably) bring back Hungarian icon

M95 carbine home. Totally non-refurbed, serial number of 35P, stock matches. However, I am more than a bit curious about the little 'disc' in the buttstock. I've never seen one like this. My camera is possibly the worst camera in the world, so I may have to draw it. Thoughts welcome.

Here are some more pics of the M95.....I have since been informed that the 'pin' or 'tack' in the stock is in fact a 'unit nail', and very rare. I still cannot find any reference to them, so I just don't know.

The “S” means it has been rechambered to take spitzer 8x56mmR.

Yep, it also means that it was converted by Steyr, as opposed to the 'H' you usually see on the 'BUDAPEST' marked examples. In fact, with the exception of the front barrel band, which matches the serial number of '35P', all other parts are Steyr parts. Bolt, magazine, buttplate, etc, all Steyr.

Saw something interesting today....went by my LGS after work, and they had a nice Finnish icon

M27 for sale there. It had an exact 'unit tack' in the buttstock as the one on my M95. It did have numbers, but were very worn. Must be something to them.
