Not much help, but far south of the asking price unless it was worn by Audie Murphy.

Asking price is at the peek of what some WW2 helmets I had sold for a few years back. I inherited 7 WW2 helmets. The lowest one sold for was $300 and the highest was $600. I kept this one because I liked it. But now my wife is making me sell it. I am thinking $300 would be fair?

$300 would likely be OK, except we can't look at the straps for repair or replacement and the pint looks about perfect, that would make me suspicious. If the straps have been redone and the shell repainted, you might be high... Now...I am speaking for the market around me.

If you look closely you can see some ware around the edge. I wish there was a marking or something I could look for.

I used these helmets when I first enlisted. Canadians had been gifted all these older patterns from the US and we used them until they were broken. A slight wear around the edge can occur on a shelf. Wear is unmistakable and doesn't have to be searched for...or just a little present. I'd expect MUCH more wear. However, Harlan here can give you a definitive answer. There are a couple others I'd also turn to...

Thank you! I am going to take it to "Classical Firearms" in VA Beach, VA. They will appraise it. It is just too hard analyse with pictures.

There ARE markings on it, heat lot number inside the front. Pics are what we all use here but you need to disassemble it and take close ups. The manufacture mark inside the top of the liner also...the bails, the sewing of the straps...lots of things.

I found out it is original. Was issued late 1942 early 1943. All parts are original. The only piece that could not be 100% verified is the chin strap. However, the chin strap could just be in excellent condition.
