Winchester 04A (1904) .22 Boys Rifle
Been a good day looking. Picked up the 1903 Springfield Handguard and then this sweet little Winchester 04A - 1904 .22 rifle for $99.00 - Tested her out with CCI CB Caps and she even works.

Neat little rifle, the buttplate looks about new and out of place with the rifle.

Might be a replacement, but is the correct one for the rifle. I guess the guy that had this loved Winchester because there is a boatload of every type on consignment at the shop. I like Remingtons but this one was too cool to pass up for $99.00

I had to build a boys rifle years ago for my guys to learn to shoot. Couldn't find one like this for anything.

In my experience, the sharp features on these old Winchester buttplates wore down quite a bit.
Here's a (bad) pic of one I sold recently. Note how the checkering is going smooth.
I love these little Winchester 22s. I think my favorite of the bunch would be the 69. Nice lines and a good sized bolt handle. Good stuff.

I'll have to look one up so I can see what they look like. I love pretty much anything old

I didn't even notice the butt plate until it was pointed out to me, wouldn't have kept me from buying the rifle. My 11 year old fell in love with it last night. I

Just about anything boy size is useful when starting them out. Old is fine...and the buttplate doesn't matter, I don't see that one as much of a collector, but a user. Better than not having a butt plate.

Its a fixer-upper for sure but I only bought it because it looked neat, I've seen them in worse condition in Gunborker. I'm more or a Remington guy; I'm now into collecting Rem 500 series .22 rifles.
