Came across this old US combination tool in a box of gun parts. Does anyone know which American military firearm it was designed for? I am thinking 19th century.Attachment 105812

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Many thanks for the ID on this item. Have several guys in a fit researching it. An e... listing said Trapdoor Springfield. Several old "gun guys" said maybe for blackpowder arm. Only you and the "Springfield Book" agree!
Interesting that it is a tool for so common a rifle in the US and no one knows what it is. What a great educational tool this forum is. Many Thanks, Steve
