billboard lowers

I'm working on two competition builds. Sadly, I think what I want does not exist. Why is it that every manufacturer feels the need to turn their lowers into billboards? Is there no one else but me that just wants the minimally required information? No demand anywhere?

The only ones that come close look like they are preparing for life after the movie "idiocracy" where not only does no one know how to read, they don't even know what reading is! Are actual words "safe" and "fire", not engraved in large bold face comic sans too much to ask for?

I just simply want model, caliber, serial on the magwell in the usual place, no crazy logos, manufacturer info above the trigger along the top of the lower as required by law is plenty for advertising, and the actual words "safe" and "fire" on the selector. Brownells had such a lower, but the magwells were not properly finished and they only plastic mags work. Metal mil-spec mags you need to clamp the lower in a vise to get them seated, and then plenty of cursing and sweat to get them out. Besides, they have been out of these for quite some time.

Yes, I looked at the folks offering custom engraving, but their blanks are already marked up on one side with their logo, and you only get the decide what goes on the other side of the magwell. Adding to the frustration would be paradox of paying someone lots of extra cash to not do something for me. I could go the 80% route, but by the time one pays for proper anodizing and tooling it's not really cost effective unless you really care about serial vs. no serial, which I really don't for these builds.

You could get the 80% lower that's not marked at all and make what you want. Then use the small stamp set or get a CNC engraving. They start blank outside.

Anderson makes a "no logo" lower for about $60. I usually order mine through Primary Arms. I primarily use them for custom rifles that I can personalize for the new owner with engravings. Just Google "Anderson No Logo lower" to find retailers. Hope that helps!

Spike tactical comes close too, but both vendors use modern icons on the selector switch. I'm looking at Ohio Ordnance Works right now. Theirs at least has a classy/timeless logo without skulls, flaming horses, or other eccentricities. Although it appears the logo is a modified version of Springfield Arsenal's, the latter insists on plastering the word SAINT all over their rifles.

While I'm still ranting, I can't stand software developers who insist on using nothing but icons for features - at least put words about what it does in the hover button!

In this age of state prosecutors tripping over themselves to grab headlines with "ghost gun" indictments it seems manufacturers feel the need to produce clown show lowers to prove themselves as legitimate.

Anderson's no logo lower only says "Safe" and "Fire." If the gun has a color scheme, then I usually lay some matching paint into them to make them match.

perhaps they did once. I haven't found one. Current production offerings are with icons. They have some without icons, but those have logos.
