Looking for info, or an actual Bren MKI Buttstock top Shoulder Strap

    Good Afternoon Gents,
Well….IM A NEWBE here, and happy to have joined. I have two early MKI parts sets. One is an Inglis 1941, the other is an Enfield Kings Crown from 1941. Only one has the correct Buttstock for the MKI…other has the MKII version. I am looking (Desperately) for info on the Shoulder Strap that is attached to the top of the Buttstock, used for helping the gunner to avoid firm Shoulder contact during Full Auto fire. These are very rare here in the states…perhaps everywhere, just not sure. I did manage to see only the top strap portion long ago (Wished I could have purchased it…but I’m a pilot for American Airlines…and saw it of all places in Belgiumicon at a Flea Market, and didn’t have enough local currency) that was marked “JI”. So, BSA” wasn’t the only manufacturer of these?
Any help, if only good pictures or dimensions to use perhaps in fabrication (I’d rather purchase original) for my missing “Link”.

    Thanks All,
    Jack

Thank you. I just purchased it….not sure if it’s a complete one, or just the paddle portion? I’ll also need the part that it clips into that is installed in a top recess of the Buttstock.

Let’s see if I get that one pictured. I’ve had very bad experience with that company sending me garbage pieces….not as pictured. Fingers crossed….and I’ll let you all know upon its arrival.

Also…..doesn’t this strap take a special Buttplate cup that has a hinge flange welded to the top of the stamped metal Buttplate (More like a Cup, than a Plate) that is used to mount the Stock Top Strap Assembly to??

    Or Hi Jack!

1st I hope all family members are better.

2nd The way I was able to finally get this area of the butt stock was to buy a complete parts kit from apex. I bought a Bren Mk1 kit. The following is a ZB 39 parts kit, but review the parts shown. The parts that you refer to will have to be moved / fitted to a Bren buttstock of course. If you go this route.

    https://www.apexgunparts.com/czech-z...6rmm-good.html

3rd You are correct in that finding all of the parts seems to be a hard thing to do here in the States. Even harder without the Creek. I have two of those Bren rear butt stock setups that I found on so-so parts kits that I bought just to get those parts. 1 from apex and the other at the Creek.

I'm also posting a link to some of my Bren Tripods, I believe that we have shared an interest in hard to find tripods.

Good Luck in your parts searching.

    Later 42rocker

Greetings 42rocker. Yes….we seem to have the same interests! Mother and Brother passed away. My health, and rest of family is doing well thank you…and I hope the same for you too!

I did see the apex parts kit…..but with last one remaining (And in poor condition) I think I’ll see if I can get just those parts from someone who had them….and I’ll probably still be paying as much (Or more) than the Apex kit. I love the Tripod pics….I’ll try to pick one of those up after getting all the other parts I need. I’m happy to see you hear, please stay in touch!

    Jack
