Vietnam era capture/bring back Mosin Nagant

The last time the rifle was fired in anger was 1967-1968. Fortunately its previous owner was not a very good shot but he did keep my partner and I busy for a few hours. I have the papers and export certificates.

It was fired and cleaned by my son approx. 25 years ago when it last seen my me. I don't remember much about it and as such I can't comment on its pedigree. It does have a scope and mount. I think it bears Russianicon markings.

When it arrives I plan to have my GS check it over but admittedly he is not knowledgeable about a 91/30. I will undertake deep cleaning.

Can you offer any specific item(s) I need to direct my GS towards any disassembly for cleaning tips?

I reload and plan to shoot cast.

    Thanks.

Pictures to follow when it arrives.

There's probably nothing that should be done that you can't do: Mosin Nagant Rifle Exploded Views and Disassembly

The PU scope is very simple, the Kochetov mount is self-explanatory.

Parsons Scope Repair or one of the other outfits could easily overhaul the scope.

I agree with Surpmil. This rifle is so simple to take down and reassemble that anyone can do it. Plus, you will have a good time bringing it back to life!
