I don't know. All I know is a lot of gun books seem to skyrocket in price as soon as they are out of print. I have a few general military history books that did the same thing. I can't say I'm innocent of paying high prices for a certain book either but I generally try to avoid doing so. I thought this one might have some value but didn't expect it to be that high.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Every now and then deals appear at Flea markets. Not too long ago I picked up two Kukris complete with scabbards, chakmaks, and kardas. One is stamped "Pakistan" and is more ornate than the other, probably manufactured for the tourist trade but the other is broad arrow stamped and is quite plain with a wooden scabbard wrapped in leather. It has all the attributes of an original issued Kukri but with all the fakery going on in the world I'll probably never know for certain. In any event I only paid $35.00 for the pair so I won't be heart-broken if they both turn out to be made for civilian trade.

I have one that came from the range 16 area in Camp Wainwright a year after the Gurkhas had been training there. No broad arrows, just a rack number stamped in with chisel. There was another found same year with two numbers off mine. Those...I have no fear are original.

Perhaps a bit too good on the surface finish. I tried to distress the finish a bit in terms of color as it came out a bit dark. Glueing the disks obscured the seams visible on the sample. The samples pommel and handguard are a flat black which may make the Parkerizing unnecessary as I think Browells Alumahide will match nicely. Overall pleased so far.
    Thanks for the encouragement.
