What are these ?
Bought a bag of 'bits & pieces' at an auction, marked up as "Enfield No5 parts"
Any idea what these are ?
Various boxes marked up 30, 35, 40, 50 etc.
The left hand side one in the pic is marked '30' and is about 1/2" (12mm) long x 3/16" (4mm) diameter. the right hand side one looks like a 'pop rivet' and is in a box marked '40' (it isnt a pop rivet, its all one piece)
The only one that looks like a pop rivet is the number 40's, all of the rest look like the number '30s'
There were also a couple of new, unopened, boxes of part number BB5860 which are No5 safeties.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Alan, they look like the little lugs that go into the side walls of a shelf unit in pre drilled holes for the shelves to sit on. The shiny metal ones as opposed to coloured plastic, are usually used for glass shelves. The round bit goes into the side, the shelf sits on the flat (or the small end of the second one) to hold the lug in.

Good thinking Son !
The only markings on the boxes (apert from the 'size') is 177 5-2-58
(Space between the 177 and the 'date' ?)
Looks like they are to be consigned to the deepest darkest corner of the 'may be useful one day' drawer.

Son is right on. The '30' and '40' markings are the maximum weight in lbs. per shelf support peg.
