Bren Tripods - 42rocker collection
Well this is a quick pic of the top of the Bren Tripods that I own and I'm working on. Someday I'll try to get them out and take a few more pics in details of each of them. Please note there are only two complete Bren Tripods and anyone that wants to donate missing parts is welcome to. In a small parts purchase I received a lot of Bren early front legs, just the upper half of course. So planning on going to the scrap yard and getting some material to make an extension to form the bottom part of the legs. Going to try to make one of them into the Paratrooper model. Also going to have to build one and add more material to it so I can mount a Vickers (semi) on it. Such fun, really I enjoy rebuilding things. Also I know that the rear Bren legs are available from my friends at Apex. The total cost of the legs is above me at this time.
So input is of course Welcome. There is 1 Early model 1 and one model 2. Dates on most are 42.

The orange one looks interesting, it has something stencilled along the side. It looks like it maybe Aussie.
Any of the Mk2s got N/|\Z markings on the head?

I'll review that area when I get home tonight. I'll take a pic and post it in this thread so we can check it out.Good Spot by the way, small detail in a large group. As far as the "N/|\Z" markings, do not believe so, if they are in front of the serial number. Most of the tripods, the letter J is in front of the numbers. Again will double check when I get home.
Thanks for looking at the group pic. Will try to work on single pics at a later time. Any special areas that I should look at/for and take a pic of? Besides the serial number area that is.

The N^Z numbers could be on the end of the head next to the front leg mount if not next to the BSA serial number.
Hundreds of H and J serial prefixed Mk1* and 2 tripods appear to have gone to NZ probably in 1941 and 42 as the BSA tripod serial numbers are almost in numerical sequence to the NZ number. After this they appear to have received most of their Brens and Bren tripods from Inglis and CCM.

Nice collection 42. I am always glad that people "save" things, for histories sake. That, plus the fact they bring a pretty penny now compared to a few short years ago. I think you must have cornered the market! :-)

I notice that you are in Fla also. If you are near Tampa Bay area I host two shoots a year and I'm at the Hernando Sportsman Club Gun shows. Drop me a pm if you want details.
Hope to see you sometime.

OMG they put markings there also. Due to several things I have had to put things on hold for around 48 hours so I try to post a few pics of those areas on Sunday or Monday.
Thanks for you info share. Learning more and more details all the time.

I tried to take a nice pic of that painted letter area and somewhat failed. Took about 7 pics and here are the best three.
Anyone that has any thoughts as to what that word is welcome to post their ideas.

Reason for the Bren Tripods - Brens of course
Well took a quick pic of a few of the Bren parts kits that I own. Note the cane on the right, on the top it has HMS Victory and Nelson and more, another area I enjoy. Unhappy to say they are all parts kits at this time and over half are mgs (bad cuts) style cuts. I also have 2 really badly cut double dovetail Bren parts kits I may need to make into display models. I'm planning to finally start building a few after I finish a pair of water babies. A 1917a1 and a 1928 Arg.. Then work on the last water baby, a Vickers and start in on a Bren or 2. Due to the money count I'm going to have to use a Bren tripod to mount the Vickers. A true Vickers Tripod is out of the budget at this time, and will be for a while I believe.
Brit plumber -- I have plans of getting the Brens out and taking pics and then sending you some serial numbers. Just give me some time.
