1911 A1 Barrel Questions
I have a Remington Rand, serial number 1,409,5xx. It has a barrel marked "45 Auto" over "7791193" over "85" on the top of the chamber and visible in the center of the ejection port. The bore is chrome plated. Can some one tell me the origin of this barrel?
Also, I would like to know how an original barrel for this Remington Rand would be marked and if any are available for purchase.

The chrome lined barrels are from the Vietnam era, and your barrel probably dates to 1985. A correct barrel for your Remington Rand would be marked with a HS (High Standard) on the right side of the barrel lug, and a P on the left side of the barrel lug. The barrels are available, and come up for sale from time to time.

I think they chromed the barrels so they last longer in the field
