    Close ups, Lithgow..came today

I got the 1944 Lithgowicon today..Parts are WA [Wellington], OA [Orange], BA [Bathurst], FA [Forbes], MA [Lithgow, and there are 2 different serial numbers, on receiver, bolt side, fore end, and nose cap is E93538, on bolt stem underneat, and top of action body is smaller P2842, SLAZ43 foreend, and BA43 rear sight leaf, rifle is 1944
Is it common st see different manufactured parts, and 2 SN's? HVSC too..

The number on the back of the action body and the underside of the bolt handle is the batch number. Those two numbers matching shows that to be the original bolt that the rifle was fitted with at the factory. The mixed parts is perfectly normal. In Australiaicon, only Lithgow (MA) made rifles until 1942. From 1942-1945 Orange (OA) made Action Bodys, but they were still marked MA. All the rest of the factories, Wellington, Orange, Bathurst, Forbes, were feeder factories that supplied small parts like sight protectors, nosecaps, trigger guards ect. to help speed up production. Your rifle looks to be correct and in super nice shape. You done good! BTW Have you popped the rear handguard off and checked the barrel date yet? Oh, and let us know how she shoots!

That is a very nice Lithgowicon. You did very well.

I'll take a stab and suggest the barrel date is 5/44

    Congratulations

What does the HV SC stamped on the barrel near the rear sight stand for?

And what does the MA VII on the left side of the receiver near the gas ejection hole mean?

High velocity-small cone, and the MA is the Aussie factory, VII is the .303 round designation, proofed for the HV round

Wow, congrats to your rifle! I´m looking since years for such a good one but it seems that they are soaked up. The only ones i could find are converted ones ( 7.62mm) or nasty ugly beasts.

Australiaicon seems to have a fair few as well but i'am unsure about their quality. I looked through a few hundred No1 Mk3*'s before i found the one i bought. Good luck though Ulrich, Im sure one will come up.
