Original finish for Finnish Mosin: M91 Tikka and M39 Sako?

I have two Finnishicon Mosins on the way and was wondering if anyone knows how the stocks were originally finished by the Finns?

Based upon those photos, you wont need to refinish them. They look correct.

Thanks, but I was just curious what they used.

I've seen some references to the Finn's using pine tar. I have only one Finn rifle, a M39, which needed serious cleaning when I obtained it. I then resealed it with Gunny's wax. The Finns use some beautiful wood as you can see from your own rifles.

I have homemade gunny paste. I’d only put a thin coat on if wood shows signs of drying out. Pictures do look good but won’t know for sure until I can handle it. Tuesday!
