Pricey Guns

Is it me, or is The Devizes Gunsmith (RWS Engineering) asking extortionate money for some of the guns he's offering. We all now must know of the £11,995 L42!!!! He's now got a No4 T up for grabs for a staggering £6500!! Its got a 1945 dated brush in the cleaning kit though! Hahaha.

I've given up looking at his website now.
With regard to the L42 I understand that it was 'taken back' by the widow of the owner (as was) of the rifle and it was passed to another RFD.

I was in negotiation for it at this 'other RFD' but it sold (at a much more realistic price) before I could conclude the deal. I therefore ended up buying another L42 from the RFD which now appears 'better and more complete' than the one that was at RWS

The site had a 1914 SMLE on there a while ago for £1,750. Admittedly, they must be very desirable rifles, but I paid £650 for my 'all matching' 1914 dated SMLE in 2008 and thought that pretty expensive...

I think the prices are, shall we say, 'rather ambitious'.

No - I've asked the RFD if he has any knowledge of it. All I know is that he bought it in from Ireland (and not from the guy selling all those 4T bits and scopes on ebay recently)

Ouch! HOW MUCH!!!!!!! £1,750 quid. I to have an LSA 1914 SMLE "all matching" and I paid £575 a few years ago.

I actually bought the rifle in anticipation of this year knowing prices would go bonkers having noted what was happening with Waterloo medals as we neared the bicentenary. I intended to move it on and make a little tickle on it but I love it to bits and would no way part with her now for any money. Not even £1750!!!!!

While the prices are hvy and Im sure we will see nasty fakes and repairs and speculation. Im hoping it means that we'll see more signs these guns will be looked after and treasured.

Consider the price of restoring one in the last few years, probably not economic.

What I am getting the impression of is that the prices for parts on fleebay seem to be increasing...
