    Sling Part II..Mr. Ricca need your help sir!!

    This a continuation of my sling post. To make a long story short I bought a WWII C tip for about $67.50 and I asked for opinions and found out that the weave is wrong. Pls. see posts http://www.jouster.com/showthread.php?t=14155

    I emailed the gentleman that sold me the sling and informed him it was a repro. and he was very accommodating enough and will give me a refund if I am not satisfied.

    Here's my dilemma, that you will understand better by reading a portion of his reply "It is USGI production as purchased from a reliable surplus supplier along with hundreds of others taken from the US military and in storage for years. Of the first 200 I acquired, three had C clips. The rest had D clips (tin and brass). The sling you purchased may have a weave that these people do not recognize; but, I have been in this business for many years and know there are always exceptions". He also has most of the books on carbines and has owned conservatively 100 carbines.

    We learn something new everyday, so could this gentleman be right? I need help folks in deciding if I should return it or not, pity if he was actually correct. I really hope Mr. Bill Ricca can give his opinion on this. Guys pls. take a look again and give me advise. Thank you!!!

    Here's the sling again;

    This sling brings up some information that I recently found. I have one company and one company only, that used the Klikit Pull fastner from Rau. It was E. A. Brown, in RI.

    However E. A Brown had a late contract of OD slings. E. A. Brown also did not use this type of C clip. This style has the "advanced and decorative" design in the middle. I have never seen that one a US GI sling before.

    The sling may be legit, with somebody either in the service, or a dealer changing the C tips. C tips, no matter how much we love them for their historic nature, were very bad for the user. The popped loose, got bent, and often just slid off the fabric.

    Without actually handling the sling, I cannot tell you anything about it. This one, if it is US GI, is an exception to every known rule.
