Not a bad shooter, but makes the L42a1 feel like a lightweight!

The little RMR on top actually works quite well out to 300m on largish targets.:

And it's nice to have both eyes open for close in targets.

Yes quite an impression system. I saw the moderator trials at Sennybridge two years ago, as we were trialling a data trail recorder, and wondered where it would sit in the Infantry line up for section use.
It survived severe weather on the Beacons and I understand did well in the sandpit too. Shame we couldn't put back into service those on the back wall...........yes you guessed it the SLR!!
'Tonight my men and I have been through hell and back again, but the look on your faces when we let you out of the hall - we'd do it all again tomorrow.' Major Chris Keeble's words to Goose Green villagers on 29th May 1982 - 2 PARA

I guess its really just a fancy SLR at the end of the day Gil, what used to be regarded as a standard infantry weapon, has been elevated to the lofty heights of "Designated Marksmen Rifle"

I was speaking to someone who was issued with the L129A1 in the Sand Pit, he really rated it, accurate reliable and tough, Armalite heritage mated to 7.62mm NATO, close to a perfect union in my opinion.

That's the full circle again, it's what the AR10 would have been after 50 years of development.

I would rate the accuracy of the L129a1 at least 4x better than any L1a1 I've ever shot. It likely isn't as dirt-proof, but that doesn't seem to be a problem in "real world" applications.
