    Type 30 'hook safety' question.

Finally managed to get my grubby little hands on a Type 30 Arisakaicon. Dirtiest rifle I've seen, so it's apart and soaking in oil right now. Question is, the serial number is 96. I'm guessing it's pretty darn early. What do you figure the DOM is? Pics soon.

Looking forward to your pics. I have a training rifle, that people suggested resembles a "Hook Safety Rifle", although I disagree. It will be nice to compare.
Glad you got this rifle, as I am missing one in my collection!

It was pretty dirty, lots of surface rust and whatnot.
So, anyone out there with any idea when she was made? Like I said, serial number 96 has to be pretty early.

The Type 30 rifle was adopted in 1897, production started in 1899. Yours is one of the first 100 made, so in my opinion a safe guess would be 1899 or 1900?

That's kinda what I figured. Earliest one I've seen.
