    1899 Carbine?

Auction arms has a Kragicon listed for sale, item # 10255508. It is listed as a 1899 Krag Phillipiine Constabulary Carbine. The serial number is 228290. This is way too low for a constabulary carbine as I understand. I also believe that this carbine has been discussed before on this forum. Fake? 5MF can you join in and educate us? Bill Hughes

Can't be too low for a constabulary carbine, or alternatively, a "school gun". They were made on 1899 actions. All the 99s were carbines. The barrel cut and the stock could be faked.

The rifle looks all original and fine to me. It is a little lower serial number than mine.

It's a school gun. One of the nicer done ones.

There are, to the best my knowledge, no PC rifles in the US. Brophy's otherwise excellent book is simply incorrect on those.
