    Savage 12 F/TR

I would like to hear opinions on this rifle. All the gun magazine reports were very favorable, but, I don't always trust them too far. I was thinking the 308 caliber as the best. I don't know much about the other caliber which, I think, is a 6mm. Thanks to those that respond.

All the reports I have gotten from satisfied customers are favorable. Very accurate and the "Accu-Trigger" is the best thing Savage has come out with in recent times. Older rifles were accurate, but the triggers were horrible. Personally, I don't care for the "tactical" bolt handle. A bit too big and ugly for my tastes. Use the money saved over a higher priced rifle and put it into a good scope. You wouldn't believe the number of people who buy an expensive rifle and then put a $200 Chinese scope on it.

    HTH,

I started out with a remington 700 in 223 and .243 for shooting prairie dogs.
Both rifles grouped at less then 1/2 inch. The 223 still does.
the 243 gave up the ghost after 1979 rounds. I had the barrel cut and rechambered and the group just got worse.
So I bought my "first" savage in .243. Since then, I have bought 3 more. They are awesome bang for the buck and the new trigger is great as well. They have all grouped at less then .5 inch.

I was thinking Leupold for the scope. VX-1 4-12x40mm with LRD reticle.

    Major Tom,

Is this rifle purchase for F Class Competition?
