I picked up a SA 1903 from a shooting buddy for what I thought was a fair price here is the details SA M1903 124284x Im guessing it was made is about 1921, I believe the stock is a Mk I GG as there is a slight dishing along its left side where the Mk I has its hole in its reciever.
All parts are milled and not a R to be found anywhere. The barrel is a SA 8/44bright and crisp, muzzle is ding free so I think it should shoot good. The left side of the reciever is Hatcher hole less. The bolt is I think a J-5 as that is what is stamped on the underside of the bolts rear lug.
I suspect the its a Greek return because part of the ser # in stamped into the butt stock too deep too refinnish, but as a whole I would grade the rifle as a 7 out of 10, just needing some pretting up to give her a boost in the looks dept.
Next Saterday is a trip down too the range and run it as is just too see how well it shoots as is.
The future plan is too replace the stock with one of the more shooter friendly C type, also a USMC F/R sites, and a fine checkerd butt plate that I have in my parts drawer and just have fun shooting.
