Some Sellers Say The Darndest Things...

I present for your viewing pleasure this great piece of salesmanship:

GunsAmerica - WWII M-1 Carbine Underwood - Military Misc. Rifles US > M1 Carbine - Guns For Sale & Gun Auctions B"H

We had to refinish this carbine with Tru-Oil because the stock had extensive pecking and scouring, but no cracks. The glossy Tru-Oil finish will easily dress down to a plain oil finish with about an hour’s worth of elbow grease and steel wool. Perhaps the most objectionable but least avoidable detraction is the Century Arms, Georgia, VT stamping underneath the barrel, inconspicuous though it is. Those points aside – neither of which are unusual for a DCM marketed rifle – this Carbine has much to commend it. The serial number cartouche on the buttstock is a plus, on our view. Wood has no visible cracks with any separation showing. Lower receiver and trigger group housing hold as good finish as external parts, and we detect no pitting underneath, as the photos show. Even though the barrel has a weak greenish finish, it holds to a true military coloration. The bore, chamber, and mechanism are all excellent. This is a very respectable, all-military .30 M-1 World War II Carbine. We’re offering it for only $ 1089.95.

Now then, if and when I see a carbine from DCM, or CMPicon with an import mark on it, I'm going to think someone's peeing on my boot and telling me it's raining.

If he can sell that for the asking price, maybe some of us forum members should open up my safes and help reduce the national debt!

At least it has one thing going for it, I did notice it was a "B" coded Underwood.

I didn't say it was worth the asking price, just that it was at least a B code. I sold one for $550 two years ago.

Trying to read between the lines of this sellers description is harder than understanding my lawyer.

Maybe because of all that shine glaring back at them.......they didn't notice the brass pin (s) thru the bridge wall.

Think they also sell used cars?

I think this guy must be related to the guy that tried to sell me an 1893 Marlin 30-30 that was "used by his grandfather in the Indian Wars." He'd give me a letter swearing to that effect! HAHA!
