Pics of .22 rf converted US Model 1917 Eddystone rifle

This US Model 1917 has been converted in a different way from the Pattern 1914 previously discussed.

The colored band located ahead of the forestock swivel is red overpainted white. The red indicating non standard caliber .30-06, typical of Britishicon used Lend Lease M1917s. The over painting white might idicate identification as a .22 rf arm. I have seen a green stripe to indicate this with an Arab country's .22 No.2 rifle. There is a white filled number "19" stamped in the stock about 1 inch above the forward trigger guard screw. Perhaps there are at least 19 of these out there??

The bolt has been converted to an off center firing pin and new internal extractor fitted. Part of the receiver has been removed to allow easy loading to the chamber face. The muzzle is stamped for the Parker liner. The barrel has two sets of Commerical .22 lr proofs. Both appear to be post war and of different dates.

Again excellent work and no markings to identify the workman.
