Herbert Cooey sight on .22 trainer

So I got this .22LR trainer and it has an HWC sight fitted I would prefer to shoot the rifle with the open sights (as a trainer for my No.1 Mk 3's) and thus this is surplus to requirements. However I cannot figure out how it is affixed to remove it. it has a screw into the ejector screw on the receiver, and this is the only method of fixing I can see, yet when unscrewed it does not budge. Bright ideas anyone? ps you can see a pic in another thread on this forum. Title "Was fazackerly doing FTR's of No.1 Mk 3s" or something.

That one screw is it. The sight base can be a tight fit around the base of the charger bridge and may need some light persuasion.
