I won't make the call but here is how mine looks and it's genuine, I pulled the cheekpad off for the pics.

Trickster, do you have a better shot of the top of the "A" as it looks pointed. Also everything appears good. Thanks,,Rick Bicon

Here is another photo. I was concerned with the pointed "A" also. It almost looks like someone poked the top with a bullet tip.

Well I saw that stamp for sale on Ebay last week. To put things into perspective. People that sell that stuff should be criminally charged.

Is this a SA rebuild stamp? Would this be something profitable to the fakers? I know in the 1911 pistols if they have the rebuild stamps it takes value away. Pardon my ignorance but I don't know the significants of these cartouches?

Yes it is a SA rebuild stamp on a M1icon Garand stock. This SA, RA combo is in demand as many believe that it is the most correct markings for a M1D rifle stock.

The profit is for those willing to pay big money for a M1D stock. There was a pointed top SA stamp from the earlier periods used but I have not seen one used on a M1D stock. Your stock isn't throwing any read flags but without a close up I cannot say 100 percent for sure. The "RA looks real good on the A and the R looks a little crooked at the bottom but I think that is juts from age issues. Rick Bicon
