US CANVAS SADDLE BAGS - Need ID Help

These saddle bags are constructed of light weight cotton canvas that were acquired in 1974 while mustering out of the 19th Special Forces Group in Layton Utah. I thought they were interesting and the QM Sgt gave them to me.

Stretched out they measure 40" long total. Both bags are removable by sliding the two straps on the exterior sides through metal loops. The interior of the bags have three individual narrow sewn pockets.

I entertained the idea they may have been designed for K9 use but just don't have any other clue.

I've never been able to find any information on them even with the advantage of the internet. No maker, date or identifying marks are visible anywhere. If they look familiar to anyone and could help ID please let me know. If additional photos could be of help let me know also. These have remained a mystery for 48 years.

    Thanks

I have saddlebags from the old Army horse Cavalry days that measure about forty-two inches laid out flat, thirteen inch wide bags, so similar dimensions to yours. They are of course constructed of leather but have canvas liners/bags that fit inside the leather bags. I don't know what your bags are for, but they seem a bit large for dogs. Maybe motorcycle? In any event, very interesting. Tom.

I forgot to mention they might be for a motorcycle - but they don't appear to be that very rugged of construction. The other military forum site mentions "Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead" - what ever that means.

Thanks, if anyone else has anything to add please do.

They look unissued. Maybe an experimental type. I have a set of saddlebags also but they are also leather.
