    1906 RIA bayo and scabbard..rough

Traded for it but I'm looking at how much can be kept as is and if it possibly needs to be restored.

Restoring will change it completely. You can get repro canvas and they aren't bad but you lose the original item.

The wood is splintered and crumbling and the liner has accordance down into the canvas. Even removing the bayonet causes buts if wood to fall out

There are complete repro scabbards available that look like yours, if you look you'll find a really convincing one. Then you can swap them over and keep the original as is.

I was able to remove the liner and it had been compressed I to the canvas a dried that way.

There is also heavy dame to the same area in all layers so something struck one edge back before the liner was shifted. Could have possibly been how it got shifted but thatsa story lost to time.
