Upgrading the Ruger Mini-14 the Brownells Way, Part I and Part II
Brownells makes it very easy for any shooter, experienced or not, to convert his Ruger Mini-14 into a tricked-out rifle that meets your exacting wants and needs. The first step in this customization process is to determine what I am going to use the rifle for. Foremost, I wanted this rifle for varmint hunting, particularly night-time hunting. good article about the Ruger Mini 14, but by the time you buy the weapon for about $699 (cheapest I've seen) and then do all the mods, you are better off buying an AR type from the get go.

agreed,
i fell in love the the Mini 14, i learned a few things,,if you have one that will shoot under 3 inches, keep it...
i spent a lot of money , time, and frustration on the lil 14, and never got better then a 2 inch group at 100 yards, and then i had to give up some relialbilty.
nice rifle for prisons, ranchers, and plinkers,,,not not a rifleman..
i still like em...just learned not to make it something its not.
