A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. The Underwood Elliott Fisher Company who produced the M1icon Carbine commissioned an artist to paint a picture of the M1 Carbine. The painting was used in magazine advertising to promote the company to the public. It was a really nice lithograph of the M1 Carbine with the caption Design for Victory and a short description of the rifle. The company then followed up with another magazine ad with an employee named Emily Mallia who spoke about her husband who was a Corporal in the Army and he carried the M1 Carbine and that she was proud of the product Underwood made. Both the ads can be found on ebay and look really nice framed. If you get the chance to purchase one of the many ads that talked about the production of the M1 Carbine I recommend that you get one. Damn and I drug all my collection out to give to tired retired and he could not answer the trivia question correctly maybe next time! 42 - 36 - 1A

Paul, I have both and they are very nice. Both are packed away but I do plane to frame them.

There is NO way you pulled your entire collection out - you would still be unpacking! I am still working on the 42-36-1A. Some of us have to work to eat. I may be retired from the military, but I have to work to pay-off the EX-wife... the retirement may be peaceful, but I still have to work to eat. But I claim victory - she did NOT get the first gun in the divorce!

Paul, I don't know because both ads are packed away and have been since the big "D" started.

I don't know what the big D is, either divorce or demacrat in office. But anyway her husbands name was Mike.
