Miss-stamped Drawing numbers?
Have you guys ever seen miss stamped drawing numbers before?
I purchased a January 1943 Springfield Armory garand that has an uncut 6 SA oprod.
The attached pic clearly shows an uncut 6 SA oprod with what I believe is the original wartime finish. It isn't a repro. But strangely the drawing number is D35385 instead of D 35382. I figure it was just a misstamp that they didn't catch?
Thanks,
Earl

RCS, is that your keystone springed Garand? Wow! That is like torture! Beautiful! Thanks, I've only ever seen one and I've never seen the secondary spring or whatever they call it.

Thanks for the pics RCS....I have alot to learn, I've never see a garand with that type of spring in it.
I posted this question up on a couple of other Garand boards and have seen a few other interesting photos. Strange that Duff and the others don't mention some of the oddities one might encounter. But then I imagine if one went down that road with 6 million made there'd be enough "oddities" to fill a volume or two.

Earl,
Mis-marked parts aren't common but if one kept photos of all found, you could write a book that could stand on its own.
