British Bayonet Question
I recieved this Remington bayonet in trade.
It is in excellent unsharpened condition.
In the pictures the end of the blade appears brown, but I assure you it is only a reflection; the blade is mirror bright.
I have no idea what it is worth or what rifle it goes to.
Can someone help me?
Thanks, Steve

Value about £75 uk retail price. A little more collectable with a tear drop stud scabbard. No oil hole drilling . X flex test mark and what looks like British inspection mark stampings. I have a tatty one and chop the bushes back with it!
Kind regards, Lester

It is also devalued by the "stretched" scabbard. Original finish on both the bayonet and scabbard would have added to the value.

I paid £30 for my tatty one about four years ago. It was in the grease. When cleaned off I found it was rusty, so had to polish it to mirror bright. Although not 100% perfect, it's not too posh to show some one. Some times if you have an immaculate original bayonet ( or gun) you can become afraid to show it to poeple in case it gets marked. They are tough old things, designed to fight the Keiser, so enjoy owning it.
Best regards, Lester

Right you are Lester.
Almost forgot, to drsteve. Here is a link to an excellent on-line article on the US M1917 bayonet. As you know, the majority of the US M1917 were converted from or new made identical to the British Pattern 13 and hopefully this will give you some useful information.

Way over priced, 50-60 for nice examples with correct sabbard.

Bigduke6, If you can buy P13 and 1907 bayonets for £50! Buy up a load and report to Chatham or Chelmsford Militaria fairs. You will make your fortune!

Lester, Thats what relates to the North / South devide (the extra dosh) an original P13 bayonet, made by Vickers, rare as rocking horse s**t have seen one, and was outstanding condition, but was in a collection, a P14 bayonet plenty of them about and some real nice examples, expect to pay a higher price for a P17, but these dont demand the same as a 1907 bayonet, then again havent been to brum or anywere else for a long time, and am slowly weeding through my collection, (if there is anything your short of let me know)
