So, what if anything would identify a Navy/Marine issued rifle ?

Would like to ask the same and if anyone has a pic or two of the correct location for the Navy "N" stamp, it would be greatly appreciated.

Peter asked for a "bog standard No.4 with a serif Navy "N" stamp and here it is. This rifle also has the serial number stamped on the top of the wrist of the butt as discussed in an earlier thread.

Pictures of four different Naval marked Lee Enfields

From my collection, N (Navy issue) and Royal Marine marked Lee Enfield Riflesicon:

Naval marked guns have the N on the left socket side. The first example shown in this thread is a serial number prefix N.

    Left to right:

Long Lee with Royal Marine marking
    No.4 Mk1 Line Thrower
    No. 1 MkIII line Thrower
    Charger Loading Lee Enfield
