A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Smile Hi, collectors community...

I'm a newbie on this forum, I'm now retired and have more time to fill up my interest on firearms, I spend a life on collecting firearms.
I espacially like Colt guns, I belong to CCA ( Colt Collecting Association). I've been lucky to attend several CCA Conventions in several States, included in october 2, 1992 at Hartford CT, visiting the Old factory, even on top of the famous Dome as well as the new factory with Ms Hoyt and M. Huber.
Well, my language is french, (hope my English is not too bad) living in the Frenchicon part of Switzerlandicon, 'cause in my country is shared in three parts Germanicon, French, Italianicon.
My present interest has turned to 1911A1 pistols from the five manufacturers.
I should say four because I do not think I could see once a Singer.
By-By everyone and good luck for your collecting adventure.

    Newbe data.
I'm long time shooter of an 1903A3 that my father purchased when I was 14 or so. He bought it after a fellow he delivered milk to offered it to him, post "sporterizing" for $25. Yup, I'm a bit old. It was worth more then, and now, had he not "sporterized" it, but we do with what we get. My son will get it next. He's becoming a shooter, but he lives in California where its a struggle just to own a gun.
I recently got interested in the Mormon Battalion, some 500 Mormons who signed on with the US Army during the Mexican-American War. They were issued Model 1816 Springfield Musket from the Harper's Ferry arsenal. They were .69 caliber smooth bore flintlocks--they weigh a ton. Anyway, I'm open to anyone who can help me with the accouterments provided to them. They are the folks who completed the Santa Fe Trail through to San Diego, California, where there is a museum; the museum that sparked my interest.
Regretfully, I have physical problems that will prevent me from doing a real job of re-enacting this historically significant group, but I plan to pass on all the equipment and knowledge I can amass to my Grandson as he strikes me as the kind of person who will get involved with it. I may have started too late to get my son going, but then I may be proven wrong in the end (I sure do hope so).
I'm a retired Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy. Ratings I served in included BM, AO, GMTC/WTC; I get bored easily, which is why Muzzleloading has always interested me. I have 4 traditional (2 flint, 2 cap) and 2 inline muzzleloaders plus a cap-and-ball revolver. Regretfully, they are all reproductions, but they are shooters and I have fun doing that. I also love shooting the AR I had put together from DPMS; they make a fine rifle that can't be possessed in California.

Hi Everyone, I just got back from a shoot with my Universal Firearms M1icon carbine.
About half way into the shoot the bolt when to hell on me. The extractor broke off and the firing pin cam out part by part. No fun. Chewfw

    Hello

    Hello Everyone,

I've lurked in this forum occasionally, and it's awesome! I wish I could find time to visit more often (which is why I keep getting reminders in my email that I haven't exactly been an active member). Guess it's time to turn off the reminder about an introductory post I get when I do log in.

The collective knowledge in this forum is amazing. So is the collection of publications. I've downloaded and read several. Thanks for a great forum.

    papertrl
